On March 10th, Central Park Baptist was organized with 27 charter members, in the home of Reverend M. H. Houston of Farmers Branch, Texas. Soon after organizing, the church relocated to an open-air tabernacle located on Dennis Road. The church was named, “Dennis Road Baptist.”
In May, Reverend Houston left the church. It was at this time that the City of Farmers Branch changed Dennis Road to what is now Josey Lane. Upon the arrival of the new Pastor, Reverend John W. Williams Jr., the church voted to change their name to Central Park Baptist.
In November Reverend Williams left and the Church called Dr. Bill W. Slayton as Pastor. The church began to grow and new buildings were added to the location in Farmers Branch. However, space became limited and the church needed more room to sustain its growth.
Central Park Baptist Church purchased 10 acres of land in the neighboring town of Carrollton, Texas. The church was moved and remains in Carrollton today.
